Where can we find bird's Nest?
We can find bird's nest mostly in South East Asia, mainly South Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. Malaysia and Indonesia are the main exporter of bird's nest to Hong Kong and China.
My home town is in Kuala Besut, Terengganu, Malaysia. A small fishing village, east coast of Peninsula Malaysia. Bird's nest normally found in urban areas near sea side. Generally, swallows have better foods supplied at sea in order to produce a good quality bird's nest.
In order to preserve their habitat, multilayer of racks made in the house to allow swallow to make nests. These normally made by extending the space from the house or build a separate building only for the bird's nest. White nest normally collected from this area.
Blood nest however, is the most expensive nest in the market. Blood nest only can be collected from the caves in the wild. Normally blood nest can only be found mostly in Borneo and Indonesia. Bird's nest collected have to do cleaning before consumption. Only South Thailand offer cooked bird's nest soup to tourist which costs THB200 to THB300 per bowl. Malaysia however, still preserves the raw bird's nest in the market, and you have to prepare your own bird's nest meals......
